SEE THE VIDEO COMMUNITY BOARD 6, QUEENS, NEW YORK CITY. January 10, 2007 MEETING. ITEM 5. GREENWAY PROJECT RE PROPOSAL FOR A FEASIBILITY STUDY TO CONVERT THE FORMER ROCKAWAY RAILROAD TRACK TO A BICYCLE PATH.
Unbelievable. New York City's overpaid, underworked officials are actually toying with the idea to turn the last crosstown rail corridor in Western Queens into a bicycle path. Can this be the mayor's new Chinaization plan for the city's harried millions? We certainly have the air pollution - Queens has some of the worst air quality in the nation; we have toxic waste saturated soil - don't eat anything grown in your garden is New York City's golden rule; we have teeming streets with millions of people milling around, and roads choked with traffic going nowhere fast. Now we're about to get a governmental push towards bicycling for public transportation — can rickshaws be far behind?
