. . . The City Council Transportation Committee will hold a rare public hearing in South Queens on Tuesday April 24, 2007. Supporters of reopening the old Rockaway Beach line of the LIRR are overjoyed to have their first opportunity to present their case to the City Council. The hearing will be held at 6:30 PM at the American Legion Hall at 209 Crossbay Boulevard in Broad Channel. (This is the first building on the right when entering Broad Channel from the north.)
. . . We understand that all persons are permitted to speak on transportation subjects relating to service in South Queens. The meeting was arranged by Speaker Christine Quinn of the City Council
at the request of Lew M. Simon, Co-Chair? of the Rockaway Subcommittee of the Regional Rail Working Group. Council Member Joseph Addabbo has announced this meeting and plays a key role in deciding transportation policy in his district.
. . . We urge all those interested in reopening the Rockaway Line and other transportation improvements to come to this hearing.
